Annual Awards Reception
This committee plans
and conducts a gala event each year. At this annual event, the
new Executive Board is officially introduced. One of the primary
reasons for the event is to recognize Chamber members who have
distinguished themselves by their achievements during the preceding
year. Recognized are the Chamber Ambassador of the Year, the Business
of the Year, the Business Person of the Year, and the Rookie of
the Year. Other awards are offered from time to time, including
the prestigious Heritage Award.
Awards Selection Committee
This committee of
Bloomingdale Chamber past-presidents and former award winners are
given the task of choosing the most appropriate recipient for each
award.
Golf Outing
This very active and high-spirited
committee plans and conducts our annual golf outing in August.
The event includes golf, lunch and a banquet with prizes for everyone.
Chamber members can volunteer in a number of ways: planning menus,
designing invitations, recruiting sponsors, purchasing prizes,
working registration desk, watching a hole, setting up the prize
table, or selling raffle tickets. This is a lot of fun! Come
Join Us!
Five Star Expo
This committee plans the Five Star
Expo that is held in February for member businesses. The Five Star
Expo, initiated by the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce, is a collaborative
effort of five area chambers to provide a business-to-business
exposition at Indian Lakes Resort. This committee takes networking
seriously and works hard to create an environment beneficial to
all the members of the five chambers involved: Addison, Bartlett,
Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, and Glendale Heights.
Marketing & Public Relations
This committee
is responsible for making recommendations to the Board regarding
the use of advertising, press releases and other information for
the promotion of the Chamber to the public through media and the
website.
Membership Ambassadors
This group provides a
friendly face to greet guests at luncheon meetings and help to
make new members comfortable by introducing them to existing members
and board members. They are active in new member breakfasts.
Program Development
This person, generally the
First Vice President, provides varied programs for general membership
meetings for the year and makes arrangements with restaurant/meeting
room/caterer regarding menu selection, table decorations, speaker,
speaker's needs, program topic, meeting agenda and any other details.
Scholarship
The Scholarship Committee is responsible
for planning and selecting the Chamber's scholarship awards and
recipients. Three awards are given each year to area residents
who are either graduating high school seniors or are currently
attending college. The committee sends out applications to local
schools about the scholarship process. After scholarship applications
are received, they read and grade all of the anonymous applicants
on a set scale to determine scholarship award recipients.
Administrative Professionals' Day
This committee
plans our annual Administrative Professional's Day celebration.
National Professional Secretaries day is observed in April each
year. This committee endeavors to present a light-hearted luncheon & program
that gives our members an opportunity to honor their support staff.
SeptemberFest
This committee plans the Chamber's
participation in this Village of Bloomingdale festival. We historically
participate in the parade and activities throughout the day-long
event.
